Mercedes Fernandez has a degree in Geography and History from the University of Oviedo and a degree in Information Science from University of León. She has the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) and the Certificate of Pedagogic Aptitude (CAP). She has completed postgraduate studies on Ethnographic Heritage Management and about New Technologies Applied to the Management of Libraries.
Completing her academic training, she has participated in numerous courses on documentary information center management, digital libraries, information literacy, services related to documentation and information etc., from the University of Oviedo, and from other education institutions.
She was scholarship from University of Oviedo and Gijón City Council, she has worked in 2003 and 2004 in the General Archive to the Government of Asturias, and she was a technical assistant to the Government of Asturias in order to computerize the document collections of various councils. Lastly, he developed his teaching in various private schools in the region.
Since 2005 she develops her professional work in the library of the Conservatorio Superior de Música "Eduardo Martínez Torner".
